Matt Green appointed new Director of Architecture As February 2025 drew to a close, we were excited to welcome the latest addition to our rapidly expanding team here at Salmon Planning Company.
Responding to a growing demand for architectural expertise
With over 20 years' experience as a respected RIBA chartered architect, Matt Green joins us to bring a new level of professionalism and design expertise to the team. "We have been experiencing growing demand for high quality, bespoke architectural skills to sit alongside our planning consultancy service" explains Managing Director, Nigel Salmon. "The appointment of Matt means we can now offer clients a fully integrated service, from the initial strategic planning approach, through to concept design, planning and construction phases, all under one roof."
About Matt
Bringing with him a rich and diverse architectural background, Matt's career to date has spanned varied projects across a range of sectors, from residential housing to theatres and art galleries. Latterly an Associate Director with award-winning Somerset practice Orme Architects, he has worked with both commercial and private clients across the UK, building a reputation for delivering impactful, well-crafted, and thoughtfully designed solutions.
His journey has taken him from his native North Wales to Somerset, with periods spent in Cardiff, Manchester, and London along the way. Since settling in Somerset in 2012, his focus has primarily centred on the private residential market, creating bespoke homes that meet (and often exceed) clients’ expectations.
As Matt explains, "When starting a project, the client’s brief is often summarised in spatial terms – simply which rooms or spaces are needed. But the true measure of success comes from challenging that brief and developing a deeper understanding of how the building will be shaped to suit the client's specific requirements. The big picture - how light moves through the space, how the design creates a sense of joy and comfort for the people who live there" is what really epitomises his designs.
Every design is about more than just functionality. "The buildings must not just meet the needs of the client, but also respond closely to their surroundings. The design should fit naturally within the landscape, creating a sense of place that resonates with both the client and the local context."
The Salmon Team are thrilled to have Matt on board, bringing with him his wealth of experience and passion for architecture.
